Part 4: The Most Amazing Christmas comes to an end :(

The last few days in Skage with our family were a lot of fun. There was something to do all the time. Many parties and community events to take part in that made the experience that much richer.

Here are some of the highlights….

Community soccer for Sig and Meg…

A family party on New Year’s Eve…

Fireworks for that event as well…

The next day after a fresh snow, our family had a surprise for us…Snowmobiling!!

Course they saw fit to hang on for the ride…

We were off to a little cabin…

For a little meal and some hot drinks…

Query: How do you know they are good at skiing? Answer: they keep up with the snowmobiles…

We also visited a couple of dairy farms for my dad. One fully automated, and the other owned by a member of our extended Norwegian family…

Meg had fun…

Until I mentioned the poop on her boots…

We were pretty smelly by the end. Oh well, nothing a shower and a little akevitt won’t cure…

We still had some time left, but not much. We went skiing again, and Megan had improved far more than me, even though she missed the first jump…

It was a wonderful time in a beautiful winter wonderland…

With good friend and good food, it was the most amazing Christmas any of us have ever had…

Part 3: The Most Amazing Christmas goes on...

After Christmas Eve, in the Trøndelag region they say Løkk med jula!! Another great thing, Christmas just keeps going for days afterwards. More time to have fun!!

One interesting thing they tried to teach us was cross country skiing. It was a lot of fun, but I am terrible…

Going up into the mountain cabin is much more to my taste. Even though it was quite cold at first…

It was a lot different than I remember from summertime…

Anyways, the men went first to start the fire and the American style chili. It was our turn to cook for them, although I do admit that I really missed this particular Christmas tradition…

Then it was a long night of dominoes and fun…

The next morning was absolutely beautiful…

Especially with dad’s French toast…

Not much daylight though, so back to through the woods to Skage…

That night was a wild Christmas party, and no, the camera did not go along for the ride.
